Aamir Khan not playing the villain in ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’

The buzz that superstar Aamir Khan is the hooded villain in the film ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’ has turned out to be wrong. Director Dibakar Banerjee cleared the rumours at the launch of the film’s second trailer.

'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!' is a film set in the Calcutta of 1943. Sushant Singh Rajputplays a detective who is up against an evil, ingenious, hooded villain whose face isn’t shown in the trailer. Rumour had it that the villain could be played by Aamir Khan, but the makers are keeping it a surprise element.

Dibakar himself debunked that notion at the new trailer launch in Mumbai on Monday. He admitted that Aamir was approached for the role, but also said that the superstar declined it.

“I was looking for a villain who can give competition to Byomkesh and can also attract the audience. So, we went to Aamir and gave the narration to him but he passed the film and said maybe not this one. Later on I came to know that he is doing ‘Dhoom 3′ in a villainous role,” Dibakar said.

Dibakar added that he plans to turn 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!' into a franchise if the first part, slated to release on April 3rd, does well at the box office.

“Our franchise is ready… We would love the franchise to go on. Byomkesh 1 is over for me and now me and Sushant think about the rest of the stories,” he added.
