Badlapur has scored and is now set to be Varun Dhawan's fourth straight film to enter the 50 crore club (after Student of the Year, Main Tera Hero, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania). At 46 crore in two weeks flat, it is already second highest grosser of 2015 so far after Baby. The success is only sweeter for for producers Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla since it is a rare 'A' rated success.
On being asked about the manner in which Badlapur has been accepted by the audience and performed critically as well as commercially, Varun says on a modest tone, "There was a sense of responsibility for sure. I could totally feel that all eyes were on me. I had to deliver. Moreover, since I was required to go through change in appearance for the film, it was a gamble no less."
Not many were sure though if this dark and disturbing affair by director Sriram Raghavan would find audience in such good numbers.
"I can understand if people were cynical. When you hear this kind of role, no one would expect a Varun Dhawan to be cast as Raghu. The whole idea of ageing could well have become intimidating. However, personally for me all of this was very fascinating. Fortunately, audience saw that as well," says Varun.
That's correct Varun, and now one looks forward to how your next release ABCD-Any Body Can Dance-2 turns out to be once it releases all over on 19th June.
