WEST BENGAL: 5 DETAINED IN NUN GANG RAPE CASE

Police on Sunday detained five people in connection with the alleged gang rape of an elderly nun at Gangnapur in Nadia district of West Bengal.
The CCTV footage from the convent gave the authorities the visuals of four persons who were involved in the alleged crime.
According to the police and district authorities the armed gang entered the convent at around 12:30 am on Saturday, held the nun at gunpoint when she refused to reveal the whereabouts of the cash, gagged her and took turns to rape her.
They also decamped with a large amount of cash. The incident triggered public anger in the district with a substantial Christian population. Irate locals blocked roads and rail routes.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered the CID to probe into the incident. A reward of Rs 1 lakh had been announced for any information which led to early capture of the suspects.
