Excessive browsing of social media led to discord and ultimately to the death of a woman in Chennai’s Vadapalani.
According to the police, Gracy Shalini (21) of Vadapalani was having an affair with Abdul Razzak of Kodambakkam for quite some time. However, of late Razzak began suspecting that Gracy Shalini was also seeing others. He suspected that she was using Facebook and Whatsapp to keep in touch with other boyfriends.
On March 7, he called her to a rendezvous – a flat belonging to another woman called Nattam Bibi - and questioned her excessive use of social media to maintain contact with other boys. This led to a heated argument between both Gracy and Razzak. In a fit of rage, he strangulated her to death. He left the body there and vanished from the scene.
On Tuesday, when Nattam Bibi returned home, she found the highly decomposed body of Gracy Stalin. She immediately alerted the police, who registered a case. Razzak has been taken into custody.
