Actress Rani Mukerji, who had wowed everyone with her performance as Crime Branch officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in YRF flick Mardaani, has flown to Delhi to receive her first ever National Award for the film, claim sources.
Rani will be honoured with the National Award for the Best Representation of the Cause of Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child at a function organized by Institute for Gender Justice to celebrate the occasion of International Women's Day.
Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Mardaani also starred Tahir Raj Bhasin and revolved around a tough cop's efforts to bring down a sex-trafficking racket.
